Pow wow is June 12 and 13

The pow wow is coming back to Portland.
After a year off because of the coronavirus pandemic, the National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture will host its Gathering of Great Lakes Nations Pow Wow on June 12 and 13 at the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association grounds.
The event will feature Native American drums, singers and dancers, with performances at noon and 5 p.m. June 12 and 11 a.m. June 13. There will also be a variety of other activities and Native American vendors from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
A pre-1840 re-enactment camp will include artisan demonstrations, and there will also be activities for children and Native American Foods.
Admission is $3 for those 13 and older with a maximum of $12 per car.

Registration is open for Arts Place’s Arts in the Parks program, with classes slated to begin Monday.
The summer arts program for school-aged children offers classes in 14 communities, including Portland, Dunkirk, Redkey, Pennville and Fort Recovery. Classes are $5 each with a maximum of $30 per child for the summer.
