Fugiett awarded state scholarship
Taking Note
A Jay County High School senior has earned another major scholarship.
Sophia Fugiett was announced Monday as a recipient of Indiana’s Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. State Rep J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) announced the scholarship.
Established in 2016 by the Indiana General Assembly, the scholarship programs awards $7,500 annually to 200 students who commit to teaching in the state for at least five years after graduating from college. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must graduate in the top 20% of their class and score in the top 20th percentile on the SAT or ACT.
“Sophia is joining a great profession where she will impact the lives of others,” Prescott said in a press release. “Teachers not only educate, but also serve as role models and mentors. It’s an enormous responsibility, but also very rewarding.”
Prairie open
Conner Prairie is fully open to the public again.
The living history museum in Hamilton County is now open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Features include Prairietown, Treetop Outpost and River Crossing.
Ticket reservations are no longer required. (Members who are bringing guests can still receive a $2 discount by reserving tickets in advance.) The facility is located at 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers.
