Obituary
Linda F. Pierce, 80, of Redkey, Indiana, formerly of Pennville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 3, 2021, while in the company of family members at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.
Linda was born in Winchester, Indiana, on Feb. 8, 1941, a daughter of the late Mary E. (Driskill) and John W. Whitacre. She attended Winchester High School and was employed by Doanes Petcare until her retirement.
Linda was a member of the Montpelier American Legion Post #156 and Union City Eagles, and enjoyed tinkering on her computer, playing euchre, cooking, coloring, flowers, fishing, going out to eat, watching western’s, listening to oldies music, spending time near the water, trips to Kentucky and collecting porcelain dolls. She was a great friend, quick to help anyone in need and loved socializing, her cat Sissy and her family dearly.
Linda is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Morrison-Daniels, of Muncie, Indiana, and Brenda Lee Rowles (husband: Alan), of Portland, Indiana; two sons, Gary Wayne Morrison (wife: Dawn), of Lynn, Indiana, Jonathan Ray Pierce (wife: Susan), of Redkey, Indiana; four sisters, Lana Jo Ellingwood (husband: Raymond) of Redkey, Indiana, Nancie Lee Miller (husband: Jackie) of Redkey, Indiana, Karen Baugher (husband: Larry) and Sally Carter; one brother, Grant Taflinger; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and companion Charlie Rowles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Anita Whitacre; two husbands, Gary Niles Morrison and James Ray Pierce Sr.; sister Evelyn Shoopman; two nephews; and one great-grandson.
Visitation and funeral services were held Monday, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Redkey, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jay County Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
