Obituary
Kenley Barcus, age 85, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was a former resident of Pennville.
Kenley was born on July 27, 1935, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Leota (Stemen) Barcus. He graduated from Poling High School in 1953 and retired from General Motors in Marion after 30 years of service.
Kenley was a very active member of Union Chapel Church where he served in many roles including church leadership, Sunday School teacher, youth leader and churchbus driver.
He married Mabeline Bower on Sept. 27, 1957, and she passed away on May 17, 2021.
Survivors include:
One daughter — Tina O’Dell (husband Ron) – Pennville, Indiana
Two sons — Steve Barcus (wife: Brenda), Portland, Indiana, and Kevin Barcus (wife: Wanda) – Redkey, Indiana
One sister — Charlene Blowers (husband: Max), Bryant, Indiana
Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Union Chapel Church, 6200 N. 375 West, Bryant, Indiana. Private burial will be held at IOOF Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Union Chapel Church.
