Jay swimmers renew dominance vs. RC
Jay County Summer Swim Team
Jay County had its first close meet of the season Monday.
Tuesday's competition did not follow suit.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team rolled to 7-0 by winning all 20 relays and 57 of 60 individual events for a 4,779-1,268 victory over host Randolph County.
The list of triple-event winners was long for Jay County, with a boy and a girl accomplishing the feat in each age group.
For the 8-and-younger swimmers, Sawyer Hemmelgarn took the top spot in the boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle. Addisyn Champ picked up wins in the girls backstroke, breaststroke and short freestyle.
In the 9-10-year-old division, Ben Fisher’s victories came in the boys butterfly, backstroke and short freestyle while Maria Laux was first in the girls long freestyle, individual medley and short freestyle.
Raif Beiswanger led the field in the 11-12-year-old boys long freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke while Brooklyn Byrum won the girls backstroke, individual medley and short freestyle.
It was all Fishers in the 13-14-year-old division with Matthew and Lauren winning the individual medley and breaststroke for the boys and girls, respectively. Matthew added a win in the backstroke while Lauren was first in the butterfly.
In the 15-and-older races, Kyle Sanders was first in the boys long freestyle, breaststroke and short freestyle. Eliza Bader earned victories in the long freestyle, backstroke and individual medley.
Winning two events apiece were Isabelle Byrum, Tuck Hemmelgarn, Elly Byrum, Kaitlyn Fisher, Carson Westgerdes and Aubrey Millspaugh.
Adding one victory apiece were Noah Wentz, Lila Wendel, Finn Hemmelgarn, Tony Beiswanger, Murphy Link, Rockland Beiswanger, Rhianna Hartman, Jacob Monroe, Mara Bader, Hannah Laux, Konner Sommers, Nico Minnich and Josh Monroe.
After consecutive road meets, Jay County will return home to Portland Water Park to host North Adams Central at 6 p.m. Thursday.
