To the editor:
We are not in favor of the location that US Aggregates is planning for the stone quarry.
We live out on Oak Street. We are not against any new development in the City of Portland or Jay County.
There will be blasting involved. We or no one else would want to buy a house near the site. The property values will go down.
If a new industry would go on the site, our property values probably would not go down. But a stone quarry is a completely different story because of blasting.
It would be one big hole, stopping any development in the future of Portland in that area.
We would like for the plan commission to please turn down US Aggregates’ request for rezoning.
