Learning series set for Thursday

Another opportunity to learn is coming up.
The next John Jay Center for Learning Senior Learning Series event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The event at John Jay will feature Doug Inman, executive director of The Portland Foundation. He will discuss the foundation and the impact it has had on Jay County over the last 70 years.
Next month’s senior learning event, scheduled for Dec. 2, will feature the program "How to Find Extra Help for a Parent at Home” presented by Lana Remaly of LifeStream Services.
Offering meal
Dunkirk American Legion will hold a free meal for veterans at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
Along with the meal, the program “Stars for our Troops” will be presented. The legion is located at 118 W. Commerce St., Dunkirk.
Concludes Sunday
“Open Space: Art About the Land” is open at Minnetrista in Muncie.
The exhibit encourages Indiana artists to take creative inspiration from the land. Betsy Stirratt, founding director of the Grunwald Gallery of Art at Indiana University, served as juror for the show.
The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. It will run through Nov. 7.

Funding available
Grant funding is available for local agriculture supporters.
The Portland Foundation is now accepting applications for its Friends of Jay County Agriculture 2021 grant cycle.
Grants are available to tax-exempt organizations operating or proposing to operate programs for the benefit of agriculture in Jay County.
Applications are available at portlandfoundation.org.
The deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 12.
