It’s time to celebrate.
Winterfest kicks off Friday night with Christmas at the Courthouse and continues with activities through mid-December.
The annual Jay County Chamber of Commerce holiday celebration features the following:
•Christmas at the Courthouse — 5:30 p.m. Friday. It will include a tree lighting with 2020 Little Miss Winterfest Avery Snow along with a community sing and refreshments.
•Kids Karnival — 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Featuring characters from Jay County Civic Theatre’s production of “Elf the Musical,” it will include breakfast, a carnival and a photo opportunity with Buddy and Jovie.
•Little Miss Winterfest Pageant — 2 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church.
•Parade of Lights — 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m. at East Jay Elementary School.
•Candy Canine 5K — 9 a.m. Dec. 4. Event begins at Jay Community Center.
•Winterfest Home Tours — Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 5.
•Winterfest at the Fairgrounds — 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12. Event includes carriage rides, cookie decorating, ornament making, live music and a visit from Santa Claus.
Santa will also be at the Santa house on Main Street in Portland from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 10.
Recitals scheduled
Ball?State University has a variety of musical performances scheduled in November and early December.
The schedule includes the following:
•7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 — Percussion ensemble at Pruis Hall
•5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 — String chamber music recital
•7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 — Woodwind chamber music recital at Hahn Hall and “Glory Denied” at Sursa Hall
•3 p.m. Nov. 21 — “Glory Denied” at Sursa Hall
•5 p.m. Nov. 22 — Violin studio recital at Hahn Hall
•5:30 p.m. Nov. 22 — Horn ensemble at Sursa Hall
•5:30 p.m. Nov. 30 — Piano studio recital at Hahn Hall
•7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 — Morgy Craig Memorial Jazz Scholarship?Award Concert at Sursa Hall
