It’s harvest time.
Jay County Public Library will partner with Jay County Farm Bureau to host a harvest story time and activities at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The event in the community Room at the library, 315 N. Ship St., will celebrate the fall season and harvest time. Children in attendance will listen to stories, learn about apples, pumpkins and turkeys and participate in hands-on activities.
The library will also host Murder Mystery Mondays on Oct. 11, 18 and 25, with mystery kits available for patrons to check out. There will also be true crime quizzes, and at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 there will be a murder and mystery movie event with the showing of a true crime documentary.
The library will also be open for trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29.
Story time will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, and Mother Goose will visit the library at 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.
On the list
Theresa Shuck of Geneva was recently named to the dean’s list for the summer semester at Ivy Tech Community College’s Fort Wayne campus.
In order to be named to the list, a student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Sponsoring
Community & Family Services Head Start this week announced sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the policy for meals for enrolled children.
Meals are available for children who qualify based on household income levels. Children who are members of households receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, are head start participants or are foster children are automatically eligible to receive free meal benefits.
Eligibility guidelines are in effect through June 30.
