William Kellogg
Obituary
William “Will” Thomas Kellogg, 60, Hartford City, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1961, in Hartford City to William “Bill” Elza Kellogg and Delores Ann (Taylor) Kellogg. His parents preceded him in death.
Will married Linda Kay (Meagher) on Dec. 6, 2008, at Crossroads Community Christin Church in Flora, Indiana.
Husband, dad, papaw, son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin, friend, Will, or Willy, was many things. Most of all he was kind, compassionate and understanding. He was a loving husband, dad and papaw, a supportive brother, a favorite uncle and the nonjudgmental person everyone turned to in time of need. He was that solid rock everyone talked about with a gentle touch, a benchmark for all to attempt reaching. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. He was, and is, Will.
He also enjoyed raising livestock and was a proud 10-year 4-H member. He was always smiling and never met a stranger. He enjoyed just talking with people and he had a heart of gold. He was Pennville’s town Santa Claus for over 20 years. He earned and wore his title “Favorite Uncle” given to him by his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Hartford City Evangelist Church, where he was on the board of directors.
Will lived the majority of his life in Blackford County and Jay County, and he has formerly worked at Helena Agri-Enterprises in Pennville.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda K. Kellogg of Hartford City; son, Charles Jacob “C.J.” Shafer (companion: Katelyn Abrams) of Hartford City; granddaughter, Paisley Mae Shafer; siblings, Marsha S. Kellogg of Delphos, Ohio, L. Edward Kellogg of Portland, Robert E. Kellogg of Kiln, Mississippi, Joseph W. (wife: Ivy) Kellogg of Huntington and the Rev. Jonathon F. (wife: Karla) Kellogg of Hartford City; Angela D. (husband: Paul) Copeland of Williston, North Dakota, Kaylynn N. Kellogg (fiancé: Edward J Lindsey II) of Biloxi, Mississippi; and Charlotte L. Kellogg of Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Amanda Jane Kellogg.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, with his brother, the Rev. Jonathon Kellogg officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Hill Cemetery in Pennville.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Keplinger Funeral Home.
