Obituary
Roselia Thornburg
William Thornburg
Rosie and Bill Thornburg (as they were known to family and friends) have passed away and have reunited to live eternally with our Lord in heaven.
Rosie and Bill lived fulfilling lives dedicated to one another, family and their faith. They met and married at a young age in Portland, Indiana, and moved to Pharr, Texas, where they raised their family of four children. On Oct. 22, 2021, they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage.
As good members of the community, Rosie built a career as a cosmetologist working with the Regis Corporation for over 21 years where she managed award winning salons. Early in his life, Bill worked as a police officer for the City of Pharr before building a career as a lineman for Central Power and Light Electric company. He retired happily from what is now AEP Electric. They moved to Wimberley, Texas, in 2008 where they met many genuine people that they were honored to call good friends.
Rosie passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, and Bill passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.
They were preceded in death by their parents, William A. Thornburg Sr. and Betty Jane Thornburg of Portland, Indiana, and Julian Carranza Sr. and Virginia Palacios Carranza of Pharr, Texas.
They are survived by their four children, William “Billy” Thornburg III (Sherri Branum Thornburg) of Kasson, Minnesota, Yvette Thornburg Garza (Ben Garza) of Pharr, Texas, Cindy Thornburg Darling (Jeremy Darling) of Wimberley, Texas, and Brian Nathanial Thornburg (Ruth Garza Thornburg) of Gruene, Texas; their 15 grandchildren, Amber, Danica, Audrey, Olivia, James, Kasidy, Kenna, Sydney, Lucia, Hailey-Bea, Sophia, Xander, Keegan, Sara and Emma; their sisters and brothers, Gloria De La Garza of Sharyland, Texas, Sylvia Aguirre of McAllen, Texas, Betty Y. Thornburg Mendenhall of Fremont, Indiana, Catherine Thornburg of Portland, Indiana, Janie Ramos of Harlingen, Texas, and Julian Carranza Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that honorable donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Wimberley and the Wimberley chapter of the Knights of Columbus, where Bill served as a proud knight.
Bill and Rosie were cremated and will have a joint funeral service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wimberley, Texas, on Oct. 30, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. They will be placed in the columbarium niche in the cemetery, which is located on the church property.
Bill and Rosie will be dearly missed. We take comfort knowing they are forever together in heaven.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the love, support and prayers given to them at this difficult time. Please continue to pray for their healing and peace.
