Obituary
Andrew R. Swoveland, age 36, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at his home in Bryant, Indiana.
Andrew was a 2004 graduate of Jay County High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 2005 to 2010 serving in the Iraq Conflict and in Afghanistan. He obtained a degree from Bethel University. He was a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and a former police officer with Portland Police Department. He currently was a truck driver for TJs Express.
Andrew Swoveland was born Aug. 5, 1985, in Portland, Indiana, to David and Julie (Walker) Swoveland.
Survivors include his three sons, Tyler, Jayce and Lincoln Swoveland, and a daughter, Willow Swoveland, all of Berne, Indiana; his mother, Julie (Carl Ronald) Swoveland, Pennville; a sister, Amanda (Jason) Hartman, Portland; a brother, Brandon Swoveland, Portland; a niece and nephew, Rihanna and Carter Hartman, Portland.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Swoveland.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. Pastor Steve Arnold will officiate the service and Portland American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites. Burial will be held at a later date at IOOF Twin Hills Cemetery in Pennville.
