Obituary
John Wesley Rigby, age 95, of Portland passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland.
John was born on Aug. 20, 1926, in Jay County and raised by his grandparents Everett and Berniece Rigby. He was married on Sept. 28, 1974, to Mary Helen Goodnight who survives. He retired in 1985 as a heater at Teledyne Portland Forge and also was engaged in farming.
John was the last surviving member of the 1944 Poling High School graduating class and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife Mary Helen; one daughter, Shirley French of Florida; one stepson, Greg Runyon (wife: Jane Ann) of Portland; two step-daughters, Candy Runyon of Portland and Sandy Brackman of Portland; two granddaughters, Debbie Jones and Sherrie Campbell; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Runyon; and step-grandson, Jonathan Runyon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, with Pastor Larry Eads presiding. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.
