Marilynn Blankenbaker

Obituary

Marilynn Joyce Blankenbaker, 88, of Dunkirk, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, while in the company of family members at Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Marilynn was born in Evansville, Indiana, on Oct. 15, 1932, a daughter of the late Walter T. and Ruth A. (Freyling) Storck. She was a 1950 graduate of Evansville Central High School followed by two years at Ball State University, and worked two years for Kerr Glass. Marilynn worked at Gaunt's Jewelry Store in Dunkirk, Indiana, from 1966 until its closing in 2015 alongside her husband Bill Blankenbaker who she happily married on Nov. 11, 1951.

Marilynn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dunkirk, Indiana, the Altar Rosary, Dunkirk Beautification Committee and Dunkirk Legion Auxiliary. She was well known by all, very social and loved visiting old friends, gardening, supporting local businesses and her family dearly. That cheerful grin will be sadly missed in Dunkirk, but never forgotten.

Marilynn is survived by two sons, Doug W. Blankenbaker of Portland, Indiana, and John W. Blankenbaker (wife: Jackie) of Albany, Indiana; three grandchildren, Broc Wilburn (wife: Jessica), Lauren Felts (husband: Erik) and Evan Blankenbaker; four great-grandchildren, Madison Wilburn, Max Wilburn, Brynn Felts and Collin Felts; and one cousin, Forrest Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; brother Warren Storck; and sister Jeanette Belt.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dunkirk Foundation or Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department.

Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
