It’s time to audition.
Jay County Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its production of “Elf the Musical” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Jay County campus of Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.
Those who audition will be asked to sing about 30 seconds of a song of their choice and read lines from the show. They may also be asked to do some basic dance.
Performances of the show are scheduled for Dec. 8 through 11 at Arts Place. Rehearsals will begin in late September.
Anyone who is interested but unable to attend one of the audition dates should email [email protected] or contact director Jason McGraw to make other arrangements.
Drives scheduled
Several blood drives are scheduled in the area this month.
The American Red Cross has a blood drive scheduled for 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lehman Park Pavilion, 667 Lehman St., in Berne. Blood drives in Delaware County will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 23 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, 2401 W. University Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Mitchell Early Childhood & Family Center, 2809 W. Purdue Avenue.
The next drive in Jay County is from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Portland Fire Department.
Those interested in donating can schedule an appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling (800) 733-2767.
Limberlost hosting
Limberlost State Historic Site will host an Autumn Loblolly Wildflower Safari at 10 a.m.?Saturday at the Loblolly Marsh Nature Preserve.
Visitors will join a Limberlost naturalist for a stroll along the Loblolly trails to see early autumn wildflowers in bloom. The naturalist will discuss how humans and animals use the plants.
The fee is $3 for children and $5 for adults. Participants should meet at the Loblolly preserve parking lot at 8323 N. 250 West, rural Bryant.
