A local church is seeking to help refugees in Indiana.
Asbury United Methodist Church is participating in Team Rubicon’s disaster response program to assist Afghan refugees who are being temporarily housed at Camp Atterbury in southern Indiana.
Items of greatest immediate need are diapers and liquid formula. The church plans to send those items within the next week.
Other items being requested include other baby-related items such as wipes, lotion, food and shampoo, water, ready-to-eat non-perishable food, clothing and hygiene products. (A complete list of items is available on Asbury’s Facebook page.)
Items can be dropped off at the church office, 204 E. Arch St., Portland, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who need to drop off items outside of regular office hours may call the church at (260) 726-8464 to make arrangements.
