Last week at Southern Wells: Jay County had one of the highest-scoring games in school history in its 64-12 thumping of the Southern Wells Raiders. Sam Dunlavy threw for a career-high four touchdowns, and Quinn?Faulkner had four total touchdowns in the win. The Patriots scored 56 straight points to start the game. The 64 points is tied for second-most in school history, and the 52-point margin of victory is sixth-highest in school history.

Season leaders: Passing — Sam Dunlavy – 14-of-30 passing for 208 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. Rushing — Quinn Faulkner – 41 carries for 445 yards and seven touchdowns. Receiving — Kess McBride – four catches for 83 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Qadon?Ferrell – 34 tackles, one tackle for loss.

Last week vs. Parke Heritage: In a clash of state-ranked teams, Class 1A No. 3 Adams Central shut out Parke Heritage, ranked fifth in Class 1A, by a 35-0 score. at Mt. Vernon in Fortville. The Jets totaled 14 points in the first quarter and were ahead 27-0 at halftime. Quarterback Ryan Black scored three rushing touchdowns for the Jets, and had a 16-yard TD pass to Nick Neuenschwander in the third quarter.

Season leaders: Passing — Ryan Black – 13-of-21 passing for 271 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Rushing — Blake Heyerly – 34 carries for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Receiving — Braysen Yergler – six catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Defense — Blake Heyerly – 28 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and one interception.



Last season: Two Jay County miscues turned into 28 points for Adams Central in the second quarter in a 48-7 loss to the Class 1A No. 8 Jets in Monroe. Jay County’s Bailey Cox had 55 rushing yards and Quinn Faulkner added another 33 while Sam Dunlavy’s 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was just the Patriots’ second TD of the season. Blake Heyerly of Adams Central rushed for a game-high 86 yards and also scored two touchdowns.

Game notes: This is the eighth meeting all-time between Jay County and Adams Central, and the Jets have yet to lose to the Patriots. Adams Central has scored at least 33 points in every game against Jay County, with an average margin of victory slightly less than 36 points. The 2017 meeting, a 70-42 ACHS win, was the third-most combined points in JCHS history ... Jay County is returning to Portland for back-to-back games as it will also host Bluffton on?Sept. 17. This is the fourth straight game away from home for the Jets after road games at Bellmont and Eastside, and the neutral-site game with Parke Heritage ... Adams Central remains third in the Class 1A Associated Press poll, with county rival and 2020 state runner-up South Adams ranked No. 1 and Indianapolis Lutheran (3-0) at No. 2 ... Jay County has a 5.58 Sagarin rating, which is 286th overall and 59th in Class 4A, while Adams Central’s rating of 71.26 is 59th overall and second Class 1A ... John Harrell’s website predicts a 45-10 Adams Central win, while Calpreps.com has the Jets favored by more than nine touchdowns.
