Ceramics exhibit is now on display

A new exhibit is on display.
Arts Place this week launched the exhibit “Ball State University Ceramics: Students Faculty and Staff” in the Performing Arts Center on its Jay County Campus.
The exhibit features work from professor Ted Neal’s students. There is a focus on complex vessel construction, figural sculpture and glaze design, all working with clay.
The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 8. A reception is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 22.
Arts Place is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
Patriotic show
Two hundred Boy Scouts are expected to visit Fort Recovery this weekend for the Old Sycamore 2021 Fall Camporee.
The event will include a “Flags of America” patriotic show at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Van Trees Park. The public is invited to attend.
Internships available
The Republican and Democratic parties in Indiana are accepting applications for internships for the 2022 legislative session.
Those interested can apply online at indianahouserepublicans.com and indianahousedemocrats.org. The deadline to apply is Oct. 31.
Auditions set
Jay County Civic Theatre will hold auditions for its production of “Elf the Musical” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Jay County Campus of Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland.
Those who audition will be asked to sing about 30 seconds of a song of their choice and read lines from the show. They may also be asked to do some basic dance.
Performances of the show are scheduled for Dec. 8 through 11 at Arts Place. Rehearsals will begin in late September.
Anyone unable to attend auditions should email [email protected] or contact director Jason McGraw to make other arrangements.
