Obituary

Former Fort Recovery resident Raymond A. Wilson of Avon Park, Florida, passed away on Aug. 27, 2021.

He was born July 24, 1932, in Scottsville, Kentucky, to Walter and Bertha Wilson.

Ray married Lois Smith who proceeded him in death on April 14, 2021.

He is survived by three children, Mike, unknown, Linda of Decatur, Indiana, and Randy (Patti) of St. Cloud, Florida; three grandsons, Chad (Brandi) and Curtis (Charlene) of St. Cloud, Florida, and Spencer (Magen) of Decatur, Indiana; one granddaughter, Michelle, California; two great-grandsons, William and Toby; four great-granddaughters, K’Lian, Carolica, Zoey and Oakley; in-laws Richard (Linda) Smith, Commerce, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Proceeding him in death in addition to his wife and parents were a sister and her husband, Edward and Grace Powers; and sister, Ruth Ann Devine.

Ray worked for Gels Bros. driving truck and Fort Recovery Industries, and also drove a school bus for Fort Recovery schools before moving to Florida in 1985.

Ray was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War and a recipient of the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV.

Burial, with full military honors, will be held at a later date due to the rising numbers of COVID-19.
