TIFFIN, Ohio — Trevor Heitkamp was second overall.

His female counterparts were top 10 as a team.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls and boys cross country teams competed in the Tiffin Carnival on Saturday against some of the top teams in the state.

Minster, which won Division III state titles from 2016 to ’19 and was the runner-up in 2020, scored 79 points for the team championship. Liberty Center was second with 108 points, as West Liberty-Salem, the 2020 state champion, was third with 135 points.

Fort Recovery scored 356 points for ninth out of 42 scoring teams.

Defending state champion East Canton scored 70 points to win the boys’ title. Pymatuning Valley had 157 points for second, while Open Door Christian tallied 170 points for third.

The Tribe boys scored 378 points, finishing 17th out of 25 scoring squads.

Ellie Will was the top FRHS girl, placing 50th out of 277 runners with her time of 21 minutes, 22 seconds. Jenna Hart (21:54) was 68th, and Anna Roessner (21:57) was five spots behind her.

Megan Diller (22:14) and Caitlin Weitzel (22:25) were 84th and 97th, respectively, to round out the team total.

Heitkamp’s time of 17:34.1 led the FRHS boys. His runner-up finish was almost 19 seconds behind race winner Michael Couture of Open Door Christian. Ethan Evers ended 71st in 20:37, as Evan Evers was three spots behind him in 20:45.

Caleb Rammel (22:02) was 103rd and Aiden Heitkamp (25:15) finished 152nd to complete the Tribe team score.

Also running for the Fort Recovery girls was Joelle Kaup (115th), and for the boys were Christian Marchal (162nd) and Caden Marchal (165).
