Vehicle show is Friday, Saturday

The military vehicles roll in this weekend.
The Indiana Military Vehicle Preservation Association’s Military Vehicle Show, hosted by Museum of the Solider, is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Jay County Fairgrounds.
The featured vehicles this year are a UH-1 Huey helicopter and a M5A1 “Stuart” tank. there will also be a variety of military jeeps, trucks and halftracks.
There will also be a military vehicle parade Saturday morning in Portland. It will begin at the fairgrounds at 10 a.m. running west on Votaw Street, south on Wayne Street, east on Main Street, north on Meridian Street and then east on Votaw Street back to the fairgrounds.
Challenge underway
Jay County Public Library’s Fall Movie Challenge continues through the end of the month.
Library patrons can complete challenge cards by watching from a selection of movie genres. Those who complete at least one card — there are four to choose from — will be entered into a drawing to win a movie night basket.
Also this month, a meal planning workshop with Amanda Bullion of Jay County’s Purdue Extension Office is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 30.
Drives scheduled
The American Red Cross has blood drives scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 23 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, 2401 W. University Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Mitchell Early Childhood & Family Center, 2809 W. Purdue Avenue.
The next drive scheduled for Jay County is from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Portland Fire Department.
