Defending Allen County Athletic Conference champion Adams Central spoiled senior night for Jay County, handing the Patriot tennis team a 5-0 loss.
Senior Crosby Heniser lost his No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-3, to Jaren Hildebrand. At No. 2 singles, Abraham Dirksen fell to Austin Maidney 6-2, 6-3. Simon Dirksen suffered a 6-0, 6-1 defeat to Spencer Gerber at No. 3 singles.
Brothers Gavin, a senior, and Sam Myers dropped their No. 1 doubles match to Cody Hawkins and Reece Moser 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Austin Dirksen and Isaac Miller fell to Aaron Christner and Ean Brown, 6-1, 6-1.
The setback drops the Patriots to 8-7 (0-2 ACAC) on the year.
In junior varsity action, Luke Muhlenkamp and Gage Sims won at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
Patriots top Jets
The Jay County volleyball team picked up its second Allen County Athletic Conference win of the season Tuesday, topping the Adams Central Jets 24-26, 27-25, 25-15, 25-20.
The win moves the Patriots to 5-7 (2-1 ACAC).
Madison Dirksen turned in a team-high 21 kills, while Abbie Fields was second with nine. Madison Brunswick contributed seven kills. Izzy Rodgers led the way with 14 service points and shared the team-high of two aces with Dirksen. Rodgers also had 37 assists.
Lauren Brewster finished with eight blocks, and Brenna Haines racked up 35 assists.
Jay County’s junior varsity team lost, 24-25, 25-20, 15-13. Maggie Dillon led the team with 18 digs, nine service points, five kills and two aces. Bella Denton had seven kills, while Laila Waddell added five kills.
Jay drops final dual
Jay County’s girls golf team dropped its final dual of the season Tuesday with a 202-222 loss to the Southern Wells Raiders at Portland Golf Club.
Janae Jacobs and Maddy Snow led the Patriots (4-10) with their rounds of 53. Paityn Chapman and Rosealynne Smith had 58 to complete the team total.
Cassandra Coffin also competed, and she ended with 69.
In junior varsity play, Ellie Klarer had 69.
Jets sweep Jay

CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team took third on Tuesday in a three-team match with the Celina Bulldogs and St. Henry Redskins at Celina Lynx Golf Club.
Celina won with its score of 192, and St. Henry scored 207 for second place. Fort Recovery shot 213 for third.
Jalyn Bruns led the Indians with 39. Shelby Acheson was second with 57, one stroke behind Macy Brunswick. Paige Bihn and Kim Hart both shot 59 to complete the team total.
