Gilbert Lee "Gib" Orr, 80, of Ridgeville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, peacefully at his residence.
Gib was born in Winchester, Indiana, on April 25, 1941, a son of the late Wilma D. (Garringer) and Charles O. Orr. He was a graduate of Ridgeville High School and was employed as a machine operator for New Venture Gear for 30 years before his retirement.
Gib was the husband of Sandra S. (Shannon) Orr who he happily married on Dec. 31, 1960. He was a hard working man who loved piddling in his workshop, was very particular about his yard, a prankster through and through and never knew a stranger. Gib was a member of the local UAW, had many fond memories on the Ridgeville High School basketball and track teams and enjoyed trips to the Winchester Historic Fly In, the Tri-State Antique Engine and Tractor Show, his 1930 Model A, trap and skeet shooting, Cincinnati Reds baseball games, mushroom hunting, collecting coins and pocket watches, baseball memorabilia, watching westerns, animal shows, auctions, his dogs, cows, sheep and farming.
He is survived by his wife Sandy S. Orr; son Kent L. Orr (Susan); daughter Beth E. Orr; brother Robert A. Orr (Rosalie); two brothers-in-law, Tom Shannon (Deb) and Mike Shannon (Wilburta); three grandchildren, Cailyn Miller, Steven Smith (Jessica) and Emily Baker (Matt); 10 great-grandchildren; three special nephews, Randy Wysong, Alan Orr and Gary Orr; two special nieces, Carmen Yoakum and Jayne Wysong; and several special extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Patsy L. Wysong.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be held in Lawndale Cemetery in Ridgeville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, Indiana.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Ridgeville Chapel.
