The American Red Cross has blood drives in Delaware County will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, 2401 W. University Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Mitchell Early Childhood & Family Center, 2809 W. Purdue Avenue.
The next drive scheduled for Jay County is from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Portland Fire Department.
Those interested in donating can schedule an appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling (800) 733-2767. Those who donate in September will receive a coupon for a free haircut from Sport Clips.
Asbury collecting
Asbury United Methodist Church is participating in Team Rubicon’s disaster response program to assist Afghan refugees who are being temporarily housed at Camp Atterbury in southern Indiana.
Items of greatest immediate need are diapers and liquid formula. Other items being requested include other baby-related items such as wipes, lotion, food and shampoo, water, ready-to-eat non-perishable food, clothing and hygiene products. Items can be dropped off at the church office, 204 E. Arch St., Portland, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who need to drop off items outside of regular office hours may call the church at (260) 726-8464 to make arrangements.
