MUNCIE — Lindy Wood put in a top-10 finish.
The girls were one runner shy of a team score.
Wood, a Jay County High School senior, finished seventh during a soggy Delta Invitational on Saturday at Muncie Sportsplex.
Centerville scored 46 points for the championship, while Richmond was the runner-up with 60 points and Delta totaled 102 for third.
Centerville’s boys scored 56 to give the Bulldogs the sweep. Richmond (61) was second and Blue River Valley (113) was third. Jay County scored 178 for fifth.
Wood crossed the finish line in 22 minutes, 25 seconds. Maria Sanchez (26:21) and Willow Hardy (26:28) were back-to-back in 38th and 39th, respectively. Lucy Raines placed 41st in 27:00.
Sebastian Solis, Dustin Harris, Taven Fosnaugh and Aaron Funkhouser finished in successive order. Solis (20:31) was 33rd, Harris (20:32) ended 34th, Fosnaugh (20:33.7) placed 35th and Funkhouser (20:33.8) crossed 36th. Seth Wilson (21:16) rounded out the team score by placing 47th.
Also running for Jay County’s boys were Isaac Kunkler (48th), Darren Fisher (68th), Owen Ransom (70th) and Timo Minnich (95th).
FR girls second
VERSAILLES, Ohio — The Fort Recovery girls cross country team was the runner-up in the Versailles Tour de Sewer on Saturday.
Waynesville scored 32 points for the win, leaving Fort Recovery a distant second with 81 points. Versailles ended with 96 points for third.
Botkins' boys had 49 points to win their race. Waynesville (61) was the runner-up and Hagerstown (100) placed third.
Ellie Will took 12th overall with her time of 21 minutes, 30 seconds, to lead the FRHS girls. Jenna Hart was seven seconds and one place behind Will, while Alexis Wendel placed 18th in 21:50. Joelle Kaup had a time of 22:00 for 21st, one spot ahead of Anna Roessner (22:02).
Trevor Heitkamp led the FRHS boys by placing fourth in 17:13. Ethan Evers placed 86th in 20:19, as Ethan Evers finished 94th in 20:43. Caleb Rammel had a time of 21:29 for 111th, and Aiden Heitkamp ended 156th in 25:53.
Megan Diller (28th), Caitlin Weitzel (29th), Alyssa Heinrichs (50th), Nicole Braun (82nd) and Luisa Maendl (103rd) also ran for the FRHS girls, while Christian Marchal (157th) and Caden Marchal (159th) ran for the boys.

MUNCIE — Joseph Boggs was once again a race winner in helping the Jay County Junior High School boys cross country team take second in the Delta Invitational on Saturday at Muncie Sportsplex.
Selma scored 44 points to get the win, while Jay County totaled 69 points for second. Daleville had 110 to take third.
Jay County’s girls did not have enough for a team score.
Boggs, who has won every race this season but one, had a time of 13 minutes, 2.9 seconds, for the victory. Teammate Raif Beiswanger (13:39.8) was the runner-up, Beckett Brandenburg (15:27.4) ended 21st and Rocky Beiswanger (15:27.6) placed 22nd. Jacob Kellog (16:46.7) completed the team total by placing 50th.
Jay County’s girls all finished in the top 20. Alexis Sibray led the team by placing sixth in 15:53.8. Emily Young (16:19.7) and Paityn Young (16:21) were back-to-back in eighth and ninth, respectively. Kaitlyn Fisher was 19th in 17:46.1.
Also running for the Jay County boys were William Hawbaker (59th), Carter Hartman (67th), David Keen (77th) and Caden Billington (89th).
