A new nature-based exhibit opens this week.
“Open Space: Art About the Land” opens Friday at Minnetrista in Muncie.
The exhibit encourages Indiana artists to take creative inspiration from the land. Betsy Stirratt, founding director of the Grunwald Gallery of Art at Indiana University, served as juror for the show.
The exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. It will run through Nov. 7.

Asbury collecting
Asbury United Methodist Church is participating in Team Rubicon’s disaster response program to assist Afghan refugees who are being temporarily housed at Camp Atterbury in southern Indiana.
Items of greatest immediate need are diapers and liquid formula. Other items being requested include other baby-related items such as wipes, lotion, food and shampoo, water, ready-to-eat non-perishable food, clothing and hygiene products.
Items can be dropped off at the church, 204 E. Arch St., Portland, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who need to drop off items outside of regular office hours may call the church at (260) 726-8464.
