Michael Atkinson, age 59, of Portland passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Yorktown Manor.
He was born in Portland on Oct. 22, 1961, the son of Jerry and Sharon (Upchurch) Atkinson. He had worked for MCCL in Portland. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting for arrowheads, spending time with his grandkids and NASCAR.
Surviving are one son, Michael Atkinson II of Berne; three daughters, Ange Best (husband: Mike) of Portland, Julie Hart (husband: Phillip) of Portland and Nicole Butler Best of Portland; his mother, Sharon Atkinson of Winchester; three sisters, Valerie Lynn Strong (husband: Jerry) of Winchester, Vicky Atkinson of Winchester and Paula Bell (husband: Kenneth) of Mendon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Atkinson; and two grandsons.
A memorial gathering and carry-in will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Goodrich Park in Winchester.
