Betty J. Ramirez, age 82, a resident of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Albany Health and Rehab.
Betty was born on July 12, 1940, in Houston, the daughter of William Roy Morton and Mary (Saldiva) Morton-Gonzalez. She worked for NAAS Foods in Portland and retired from EPC in Geneva. She was a member of the American Legion Post #211 Auxiliary and Portland Moose Lodge.
Survivors include:
Her children — Jane Bailey (husband: Eddie), Portland, Indiana, Veronica Wilson, Pasadena, Texas, and Jo Ann McCellon, Beaumont, Texas
Her brothers: Walter Roy Morton, Brownsville, Texas, Joe Gene Gonzalez (wife Lucy), Kansas City, Missouri, Victor Gonzalez, Portland, Indiana, and Edward Gonzalez (wife Carolyn), Florida
Twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth McCellon Jr.; a brother, William Robert Morton; and a son-in-law, Carlos Wilson.
Private memorial services will be held at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.
