Gertrude enjoyed volunteering at her church, gardening, square dancing, camping and hosting family and friends. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and had a gift for making all feel welcomed in her home.
Gertrude will be dearly missed by her loving children Melanie and (Ernest) Swauger of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Tamara and (Brandon) Ringwald of Highland Heights, Kentucky; her nine grandchildren, Peter (Sara), Liz (Jason), Abigail (Peter), Nathan, Charlie and Joe; five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

John 11:25-26 — Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.”
The family would like to thank Mary Washington Hospice Care, Visiting Angels, Spotswood Baptist Church and the numerous friends who reached out, provided meals, and loved Gertrude and her family so well.
