Thomas William Wheat, 69, of Warren, Indiana, formerly of Redkey, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 13, 2023, at his residence.
Tom was born in Portland, Indiana, on Feb. 9, 1954, a son of the late Marjorie Louise (Jackson) and Thomas Wenfield Wheat. He was a 1972 graduate of Redkey High School and was formerly employed as a carpenter for 3M Construction.
Tom was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and an avid Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed baseball, basketball, playing pool, watching sprint car, NASCAR, hunting shows, “The Price is Right” and “Gunsmoke,” listening to ’80s and ’90s rock and country music, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Danielle L. Wheat (Andrew Welty) and Candance R. Morgan (husband: Billy); two sisters, Rebecca L. White (husband: Steve) and Sylvia J. Hedge (husband: Greg); six grandchildren, Caylynn Hamilton, Colton Norris, Cassandra Hamilton, Carrianna Hamilton, Aryal Morgan and Christopher Vebert Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Everley Manlove and Eliana Norris; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild, Aryan Morgan.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family at a later date, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home (P.O. Box 25, Redkey, IN 47373) to assist with funeral arrangements.
Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries – Redkey Chapel.
