Jail leader fired Tuesday
A Jay County Sheriff’s Office employee has been fired.
Jay County Commissioners agreed during a special session Tuesday to terminate jail commander Darrin Sanderson.
Commissioners president Chad Aker explained during the meeting that Sanderson, who had worked for the department for three years, had violated county personnel policy.
The matter is being investigated by Indiana State Police.
Commissioners said they would have no further comment until the investigation is complete.
Chief deputy Ben Schwartz explained this morning an employee had come forward with sexual harassment allegations.
A request for additional information from state police had not received a response as of press time.
