Tickets are up for purchase for the next local theatre show.
Jay County Civic Theatre’s production of Disney’s “Descendants”?is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 9, 10, 16 and 17, and 2 p.m. June 11 and June 18 at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St., Portland. The cast includes Aubrey Millspaugh of Portland as Mal, Inara Sanderson of Portland as Evie, Logan Zimmerman of Pennville as Jay and Ashton Castillo of Portland as Carlos.
Advance tickets are $8 for students and children and $10 for adults. They’re available by visiting myartsplace.org, calling (260) 726-4809 or going to Arts Place.

Alumni of a former local school are getting ready for their annual celebration.
The Madison Township Alumni banquet is scheduled for May 20 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Portland.
Registration for the event will begin at 4 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m.

Arbor Day
Minnetrista will hold its annual celebration of Arbor Day encourages the planting of trees from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Muncie cultural center will celebrate its 25th anniversary of being part of Tree City USA by giving away saplings on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees available will include black oak, white oak, chinkapin oak, red oak, Norway spruce, shell bark hickory, tulip, American beech, redbud, white flowering dogwood and sourwood.
