Fort Recovery State Museum is hosting a two-day event this weekend featuring tribal citizens and interpreters.
“Beyond the Battlefield: Interpreting St. Clair’s Defeat through the Eyes of Tribal Citizens”, begins Saturday and continues Sunday at the museum. The event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday features a walk along the museum’s trail near the forts, with tribal interpreters sharing their stories and answering questions from visitors. Tribal interpreters will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the museum.
There will also be games, a children’s story time, battle field tours by Ball State University archaeologists, and a meal provided by Tin Cupboard next to the tool cabin along the walking trail.

Safety campaign
Indiana Criminal Justice Institute has more than 200 law enforcement agencies participating in its Stop Arm Violation Enforcement (SAVE) campaign this school year. The campaign, funded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, adds patrols looking for stop-arm violations, speeding and other forms of reckless driving around school buses and in school zones.
In April, a one-day observational survey found 2,091 stop-arm violations in Indiana. Disregarding a stop arm can result in a $10,000 fine and a driver’s license suspension.
