John Confer, age 62, of Portland passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2023, in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
He was born in Portland on March 15, 1960, the son of Ralph and Annafaye (Sells) Confer. He was retired from Red Gold in Geneva and was a 1978 Jay County High School graduate.
John had enjoyed working on and racing go karts and working on old cars. Surviving are one son Kameron Confer of Portland, three daughters Nicole Fear (husband Shawn) of Berne, Indiana, Brittany Fisher (husband Brad) of Bryant, Indiana, and Stephanie Crouch (husband Rob) of Celina, Ohio, step-daughter Kayla Dobbles of Albany, Indiana, one brother Dave Confer (wife Janet) of Redkey, Indiana, three sisters Virginia Jensen (husband Pat) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Helen Weirich of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mary Hamilton (husband Dan)of Winchester, Indiana, and thirteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with burial in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Memorials can be directed to the family.
