Northeast Indiana John Deere firms are preparing for another merger.
TTG Equipment and Kenn-Feld Group announced last week that they will merge to form TRULAND Equipment. The merger is expected to be complete Aug. 21.
Troxel Equipment, which had locations in Bluffton, Huntington and Wabash, merged with Tri Green Tractor to form TTG four years ago.
The latest merger will bring 18 John Deere locations in Indiana and Ohio under the TRULAND moniker.
“We are two local companies joining together into one local company,” said Jameson Ringger, CEO of TTG Equipment, in a press release. “We are dedicated to cultivating lasting relationships with our customers, providing new opportunities for our employees, and investing in our community.”
Ribbon cutting
Jay County Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony this month for Elite Eye Care.
The ribbon-cutting for the business, formerly known as Fullenkamp Family Optometry, is scheduled for 5 p.m. July 17. Elite Eye Care is located at 1111 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Closing sites
Ardagh Group announc-ed last week that it will close two of its U.S. facilities.
The company, which operates glass manufacturing plants in Dunkirk and Winchester, will close its facilities in Ruston, Louisiana, and Wilson, North Carolina. The closures are expected to be effective by the middle of the month.
“In response to recent weakness in market demand, we have today announced certain adjustments to our manufacturing footprint involving the closure of our Ruston (Simsboro), La., and Wilson, N.C. glass production facilities, effective mid-July 2023,” Ardagh told Glass International magazine. “Existing customers of these facilities will continue to be supplied from alternative locations in our network.”
Complaint amended
The Federal Trade Commission on Friday filed an amended complaint against Walmart.
The complaint alleges that Walmart “allowed its money transfer services to be used by scammers, who fleeced consumers out of hundreds of millions of dollars.”
The amendment follows the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois issuing a decision in March to dismiss one count of the complaint against Walmart and dismiss the other without prejudice.
According to the complaint, the company “did not properly train its employees, failed to warn customers, and used procedures that allowed scammers to cash out at its stores.”
Walmart has previously referred to the civil lawsuit as “factually misguided and legally flawed.”
Board expanding
Dollar General has announced that David Rowland will join its board of directors.
Rowland, who is the former executive chairman of Accenture, will join the board Aug. 5. He previously served as chief financial officer for Accenture and in a variety of other consulting and finance leadership roles during his career.
His addition brings the board to 10 members.
“We are pleased to welcome David to our board of directors,” said Michael Calbert, Dollar General’s board chairman, in a press release. “David brings a deep knowledge of the global marketplace and vast experience in finance, operations, strategy and risk management, which will be an asset to Dollar General as we focus on driving value to our customers, employees and shareholders.”
