Marchers and spectators will have to adjust to a slightly different route.
The Jay County 4th of July Committee announced Monday morning that the route for the annual parade in Portland has changed.
Parade line-up will be at Weiler-Wilson Park instead of East Jay Elementary School’s parking lot. From the park, the parade will start north on Wayne Street and then turn west on Water Street.
The parade will then turn north on Meridian Street, resuming its traditional route as it utilizes Depot Street and then turns east on Votaw Street to Jay County Fairgrounds.
Lineup starts at 10 a.m. with the parade to begin at 11 a.m. Rob and Mindy Weaver will serve as grand marshals.
Afternoon activities at the fairgrounds include a flag ceremony at noon, inflatables, waterfall, face painting, karaoke, garden tractor pulls, an Indiana Wild show, a Museum of the Soldier display and hot air balloon rides.
John Beatrice Band will play at 7 p.m. Fireworks will begin about 10 p.m.
