Arts in the Parks kicks off next week.
Art classes for children ages 6 to 12 years old begin Monday and continue through July 14.
The program provides workshops that introduce children to creative writing and visual and performing arts experiences, according to a press release from Arts Place. Specifics about classes may be found online at myartsplace.org.
Classes are available in Berne, Dunkirk, Hartford City, Montpelier, Pennville, Portland, Redkey and Fort Recovery, as well as Celina, Ohio, Coldwater, Ohio, Minster, Ohio, New Bremen, Ohio, St. Henry, Ohio, and St. Marys. The cost is $5 per class, $30 for six or more classes per child and $30 for camps. Financial assistance is available for students with financial need.

Summer camp
Jay Community Center’s summer day camp is open.
Registration is open to children in kindergarten through seventh grade for the camp, which runs through Aug. 9. Campers attend from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. (Early drop off between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. is available at $3 per day.)
Initial registration costs $30 per child, with early daily rates at $13 per day.
Campers need to bring sunscreen and a water bottle. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are provided through July.
