A Bryant man died in a car accident Sunday.
Devon R. Drumm, 18, suffered a fatal head injury when the vehicle in which he was a passenger left county road 700 South, rolled and hit a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drumm, 18, was riding in a 2013 Kia Forte driven by Michael L. Brown, 27, Portland, about 5:44 p.m. Sunday.
Brown told police another car passed him, making it difficult for him to see in the dust of the stone road. He lost control of the vehicle, which went off the north side of the road. The car rolled and struck a tree on the passenger side, coming to a stop in a ditch.
Brown, who suffered a head wound, was ejected from the vehicle. Drumm was trapped in the car with his seatbelt secured.
Brown was given an alcohol blood test with results pending, and he was cited for a misdemeanor for driving with a suspended license.
The son of Tara and Jason Drumm, Devon Drumm was a member of the Jay County High School Class of 2023 that graduated just hours before his death.
The Forte, which is registered to Melissa Carter, Portland, was towed, with damage estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
