Helen Mae Ferrell, age 54, of Portland passed away on Thursday June 8, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born in Bluffton on Dec. 29, 1968, the daughter of Carl and Shirley (Armstrong) Herriford. She was married on Dec. 30, 1998, to James L. Ferrell who survives.
Helen was owner and operator with her husband of Sorting Solutions in Berne. She was a 1987 Jay County High School graduate. She enjoyed canoeing, golfing, cookouts, playing cards and games, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband James; three sons, Dylan Parr (wife: Chelsea) of Deerfield, Neo Ferrell of Portland and Qadon Ferrell of Portland; one daughter, Shadana Poole (husband: Orie) of Portland; three brothers, David Andrews of Dunkirk, Doug Herriford of Portland and Tim Herriford of Winchester; one sister, Jennifer Mosley of Texas; four grandchildren Kaprei, Kenton, Kenadee and Detrik.
Visitation will be Thursday June 15, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorials can be made to Jay County Cancer Society.
