Gail Brinkerhoff, age 86, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at his home in rural Portland.
Gail was born on June 9, 1936, in Portland, Indiana, the son of Floyd and Catherine (Rockwell) Brinkerhoff. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in chemistry.
Gail served in the U.S. Army and worked as an industrial hygienist for the Department of the Navy and was a cattle farmer in Virginia. He was also a farmer in Greene Township, Jay County. Gail was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching and playing baseball.

His siblings — Janet Minch, Muncie, Indiana, Cloyce Brinkerhoff, Portland, Indiana, and Neil Brinkerhoff (wife: Carol), Ladoga, Indiana
One grandson — Stephen Brinkerhoff
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m. at Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be at Salamonia Cemetery in Salamonia, Indiana. Portland American Legion Post #211 will conduct military graveside rites.
