Mary Helen Myron “Granni,” age 95, of Portland passed away peacefully in her grandson’s home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, June 16, 2023.
She was born in Portland on Nov. 23, 1927, the daughter of Clyde and Lena (Cromas) Green. She was married on Jan. 27, 1945, to Dorwin J. Myron and he passed away on March 26, 1971. She was a caseworker with Jay County Welfare Department for 32 years.
Mary Helen was a 1944 Portland High School graduate and enjoyed playing cards and word games. She loved her pets and liked to travel.
Surviving are one son, Larry J. Myron of West Point, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Myron Sutton.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Al Schoonover presiding. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society.
