Foundation merger OK'd

The Dunkirk Foundation’s board will become the Dunkirk Community Advisors to make recommendations on grants and scholarships that are paid out of the 14 funds that are being transferred. The memorandum of understanding between the two foundations regarding the merger indicates that the advisors’ recommendations will be honored by The Portland Foundation as long as they follow the rules for the fund and don’t violate laws or regulations, or jeopardize The Portland Foundation’s tax status.
