INDOT culvert project set for Indiana 1
Work is scheduled to begin on or after July 5
More road construction is coming next week.
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will begin work on an Indiana box culvert and paving project beginning on or after Wednesday.
In a press release issued Wednesday, INDOT indicated plans to close Indiana 1 between county roads 700 South and 800 South, south of Redkey. E&B Paving will be handling the work to replace a “pipe structure” with a box culvert, a project that is expected to be complete in early August.
Following the installation of the new culvert, the road will be paved from the southern town limits of Redkey to Indiana 28. The paving work is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.
The detour for the project will use Indiana 28, Indiana 167 and Indiana 26.
The project will be the second to begin in Jay County in as many weeks, following this week’s start on work to replace the Indiana 26 (Water Street) bridge over the Salamonie River on the east edge of Portland.
The detour for the bridge project uses U.S. 27, Indiana 67, Ohio 29 and Ohio 49.
