Larry VanSkyock, age 84, of Portland passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at his residence.
He was born in Portland on Sept. 13, 1938, the son of Norval and Ruth (Bush) VanSkyock. He was married March 3, 1973, to Judith Lewis who survives.
Larry was a 1956 Portland High School graduate and member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He worked for Naas Foods after graduation. He later started carpentry work and just had his 50th year as L. VanSkyock and Sons as his sons joined him after graduation.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy; two sons, Andy Vanskyock (wife: Jenni) of Portland and Laramie VanSkyock (wife: Brandy) of Portland; five daughters, Kim Vanskyock (wife: Cathy) of Kokomo, Monna VanSkyock (wife: Sheila) of Selma, Lonna VanSkyock of Muncie, Becky Wellman (husband: Rick) of Selma and Alisa Blount of Portland; one sister, Jean Laughman (husband: Ed) of Winchester; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Dick and Jerry VanSkyock; and sister Beverly Weaver.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
