A glass manufacturer with local ties has announced an extension of one of its partnerships.
Ardagh Glass Packaging – North American on Thursday announced that it has reached an agreement to continue supplying Sprecher Brewing Company will its glass beverage bottles.
Sprecher worked with Ardagh to redesign its custom glass bottle using a sculptured embossing process. The partnership continues a connection between the Milwaukee-based craft brewery and the Ardagh facility in Burlington, Wisconsin.
“Ardagh Glass Packaging is proud to partner with Sprecher Brewing Company to provide consumers with high-quality, American-made glass beer and beverage bottles while helping the brewery meet their brand and sustainability goals,” said Ardagh vice president Rush Markan in a press release.
Under new name
Portland's optometry practice is under a new name.
Elite Eye Care is the new name for the former David A. Fullenkamp Family Optometry. The practice is located at 1111 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Buschurs donate
Dave and Danielle Buschur, owners of several local businesses, recently donated $1 million to the Grand Event Center at Mercer County Fairgrounds.
The Grant Event Center will be a 100,000-square-foot facility used to host a variety of events at the fairgrounds. In addition, the adjacent Market Hall — it was previously known as the “Buckeye Building” — will be renovated for other needs and as a support facility during large events.
“The foundation of our businesses is based off of giving back to the community and helping other organizations grow,” the Buschurs said in a press release. “We want to leave a lasting legacy and impact for future generations to enjoy, especially our kids.”
The couple owns Bushur Custom Farm Services, D&D Truck and Trailer Service, Buschur Leasing, Bosma Poultry and Wendel Poultry Services.
Land O’Lakes donates
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana recently received a donation of 40,000 pounds of macaroni and cheese from Land O’Lakes through its First Run Program.
Co-Alliance Cooperative also made a $2,000 cash donation.
“We are thrilled to receive this amazing donation to the people of our communities,” said Second Harvest president and CEO Bekah Clawson in a press release. “Land O’Lakes and Co-Alliance Cooperative are wonderful partners and this food will help us serve over the 70,000 food and resource insecure neighbors throughout East Central Indiana.”
The donations are part of an effort to promote and invest in food security.
Chamber offering
Indiana Chamber of Commerce will offer in-person and virtual forklift training on June 6.
The one-day seminar will include details about training staff on safe and compliant forklift operation. Participants will receive a copy of course materials and a flash drive with templates to create a customized safety program.
Topics for the seminar include safe truck operations, performance certification, inspection requirements and training tips.

Reid recognized
Healthgrades last week named Reid Health as one of the nation’s 100 best hospitals for spine surgery.
The organization that focuses on connecting doctors and patients evaluated patient mortality rates and other factors at almost 4,500 hospitals. That analysis led to selecting the top 100 hospitals in a variety of categories.
"We've always been aware of the fantastic care given by our spine team, and now others are taking note," said Misti Foust-Cofield, Reid vice president and chief nursing officer, in a press release. "They're committed, passionate, and always going above and beyond for the patients they serve. The team is an absolute blessing, and we are so proud of their great work.”
Reid Health’s cardiac cath lab also earned accreditation from the American College of Cardiology.
Partnership announced
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and state secretary of commerce Brad Chambers joined U.S. Sen. Todd Young at the SelectUSA Investment Summit on May 3 to announce a partnership between the state, Purdue University and Belgian firm Imec.
They will be working together to “advance research and development in Indiana’s semiconductor sector.” The five-year agreement focuses on bringing expertise and state-of-the-art technology with an exchange of students.
“Indiana has the workforce, institutional partnerships, geography and natural resources which enable us to be a leader in the semiconductor space,” said Chambers in a press release. “Today’s announcement is a direct result of our strategy and commitment to further position Indiana as a leader in reinvigorating and bolstering U.S. semiconductor capacity …”
New CEO named
Terry Stigdon was named the new CEO of the American Red Cross Indiana Region on May 1.
Stigdon will take over her new role May 15. She previously served as director of Indiana Department of Child Services.
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry to the Red Cross,” said Genevieve Shaker, who serves as board president of the Greater Indianapolis Chapter of the Red Cross, in a press release. “Her proven leadership and deep roots in the Indiana region will be vital as we continue to work with and for our communities to make them more resilient. Terry is someone who gets how we ‘do community’ in the Indiana Region.”
Stigdon previously worked as a nurse and held leadership positions at Riley Hospital for Children.
Rodriguez recognized
Engineering News-Record recently recognized Indianapolis Airport Authority executive director Mario Rodriguez as one of its Top 25 Newsmakers.
Rodriguez was honored for his efforts to implement sustainable infrastructure, including a multi-phase construction project to enhance a runway and taxiway. Engineering News-Record seeks to shine a spotlight on “unsung heroes in the construction industry.”
“Mario has an unwavering focus on innovation as a means to enhance sustainability and the customer experience,” J.J. Morton, principal with Kimley-Horn, a design and planning firm, told Engineering News-Record. “He inspires his staff to innovate in every way imaginable throughout the Indianapolis Airport Authority’s system of airports.”
