Indiana Commission for Higher Education is accepting applications for its STEM Teacher Recruitment Fund grants through June 2.
The grants are awarded to local organizations and colleges to support programs that recruit, prepare, place and retain educators in schools with teacher shortages in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subject areas, according to a press release from the organization.
To be eligible, applicants must present programs that result in individuals becoming licensed or trained to teach science, technology, engineering or math in Indiana public K-12 schools. Individuals receiving program support through this grant must seek employment in an eligible Indiana public school.
Winners will be announced June 30.

Library programs
Jay County Public Library still has a few programs slated for this month.
The library is partnering with Purdue Extension Office to host a healthy charcuterie board program at 6 p.m. Monday for learning how to make tasty and nutrious charcuterie layouts. Samples will also be available.
Justin Curley of Purdue Extension Office will be hosting a spring gardening session at 6 p.m. Tuesday about plant compatibility.

Isaiah 117 House
An organization caring for children in the foster system is coming to Delaware County.
Isaiah 117 House will host a kickoff for its operations at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell Early Childhood and Family Center, 2809 W. Purdue Ave., Muncie.
The Tennessee-based organization allows children to stay in a home with volunteers while they await foster care placement.
“This is a great opportunity to learn more about Isaiah 117 House and how to partner with us in making a transformational impact in the lives of children in Delaware County and the surrounding area,” said Ronda Paulson, organization founder and executive director. “We encourage everyone — whether you are simply curious about our services or if you know you are ready to make a commitment and get involved — to join us as we take this exciting next step.”

Ivy scholarship
High school graduates have the opportunity to apply for a full-ride scholarship.
The Mark W. Suedhoff Endowed Schoalrship-Chancellor’s Merit Award will be granted to two students seeking associate degrees at Ivy Tech. The award covers tuition, books and fees.
Applicants must write a one-page essay explaining why they chose Ivy Tech and how the scholarship will help them pursue their education. To be eligible, students must apply to Ivy Tech before submitting their scholarship application, graduate high school in 2023, have a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled at Ivy Tech for a minimum of 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

Hall of Fame
Cincinnatus League is looking for nominees to its Jay County Hall of Fame.
The event honors Jay County residents who have provided a lifetime of volunteer service to the community. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must be 65 or older. Nominations are due by May 31, with the induction ceremony set for July 12 at Jay County Fair.
