Arts Park Festival kicks off on Sunday

Arts Place’s kickoff for its annual Arts in the Parks program is this weekend.

Free arts and crafts, performances and chainsaw art demonstrations will be available from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Jay County Campus of Arts Place. The event will also serve as a place to obtain information about this year’s Arts in the Parks programs. Memorial Day

Fort Recovery American Legion will conduct its Memorial Day service at 7 p.m. May 26.

The service will start at the Wabash bridge on Wayne Street. Following the ceremony, veterans, scouts, 4-H clubs, firefighters, Fort Recovery High School band members and others will march in a parade to the Veterans park for the remainder of the program. James Waechter, curator of the Museum of the Soldier, will speak at the park.

Everyone is invited to attend.



Grassland program

Agricultural producers and private landowners can sign up for the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program. Offered by the United States Department of Agriculture, the program allows “producers and landowners to continue grazing and haying practices while conserving grasslands and promoting plant and animal biodiversity as well as healthier soil,”?according to a press release from the USDA. More than 3.1 million acres were accepted through the program in 2022. In total, 6.3 million acres are currently participating in the program.
