Local roundup

DALEVILLE — The Patriots and Broncos were trading sets.

In the end, the Patriots stuffed the stat sheet as they found the win.

The Jay County High School volleyball team had to earn its 25-18, 19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 15-9 win over the Daleville Broncos on Monday night.

It was a big night for the Patriots’ offense, as three players had double digit kills. While Daleville’s Trishell Johnson led all players with 22 kills, Bella Denton wasn’t far behind with 18. Maggie Dillon and Mya Kunkler also put up big numbers with 13 and 12, respectively.

The high kill count was partly because of Sophie Saxman, who assisted teammates 38 times in the match.

Defensively, Brenna Haines, Saxman and Brenna Bailey were busy digging out balls. Haines led the team with 25 while Saxman added 22 and Bailey had 18. At the net, Denton blocked two attacks.
