James Affolder

James R. “Jim” Affolder, 57, of Berne, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023.

Jim was born on April 15, 1966, in Portland, Indiana, to Ray and Phyllis (Wolford) Affolder. On Dec. 2, 1989, Jim married Melissa Eldridge.

Jim worked in maintenance at Red Gold in Geneva. Jim was dedicated and driven in every aspect of his life. He loved his boys and his wife deeply. He was a hard worker and an avid fan of his Adams Central High School Jets and the NHRA.

He is survived by his wife Melissa Affolder; his parents, Ray and Phyllis Affolder; two sons, Brett and Blake Affolder; a brother, Mark (LeeAnn) Affolder, all of Berne; and a sister, Marla Lutes of Pennville.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. 

A private family service will follow visitation, with Pastor Sam Padgett officiating.
