Lester J. Homan, age 84, of Cassella, Ohio, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.
He was born April 19, 1939, in Cassella, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Catherine (Hoying) Homan. He married Anita (Meier) Homan on April 8, 1961, and she survives in Cassella.
Lester is also survived by five children, Gregg Homan and fiancé Anna Stairs of Linden, Michigan, Jay and Karen Homan of Cassella, Dean and Lori Homan of Cassella, Jill and Tom Eifert of Zionsville, Indiana, and Tara and Doug Partington of Maria Stein, Ohio. Also surviving Lester are 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two on the way, as well as siblings and in-laws Dorothy Guggenbiller of Fort Recovery, Wanda Homan of Ansonia, Ohio, Julitta Overman, Velma Hartke, Marilyn Uhlenhake and Edna Reichert, all of Coldwater, Ohio, Joan Hummel of St. Henry, Ohio, Diana and Don Albers of Osgood, Ohio, Larry and Mary Jane Meier of Maria Stein, Ohio, Dale and Jane Meier of Versailles, Ohio, Nick and Margie Meier of St. Rose, Ohio, and Mary Lou Broerman and Tim Bergman of Minster, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by siblings and in-laws Cletus and Hilda Homan, Clem Homan, Norman Guggenbiller, Eileen and Ben Pleiman, Lillian and Arnold Homan, Marvin and Mary Magdalene Meier, Bernard Overman, Rich Hartke, Ernie Uhlenhake, Lavern Reichert, Donald Hummel and Rich Broerman, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Aloys and Rose Meier.
Lester was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, and the former C.K. of A., now Catholic Financial Life of Cassella. He was a lifelong farmer, and a graduate of Marion Local High School, Class of 1957. Lester had served as a past band booster for the band with “A Touch of Class” and was an avid Marion Local Flyers sports fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella. Burial in Nativity Cemetery in Cassella will follow the funeral mass. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
